April Glossybox 2013

Another great box from Glossybox this month. The box is so pretty, and there are some lovely products.

Full sized Essie Nail Varnish - I really wanted Essie Cute as a button but I just couldn't justify buying it as I had already bought the boujois dupe after seeing it on Lily's blog. I'm so glad that I now have the Essie version as this doesn't have the micro glitter particles that the bourjois one has and I love the Essie Nailvarnish Brushes.

Sleek Blush in Pixie Pink - I already have this blush and I love it. Its such a pretty colour and I'm glad to have double now as I will pop this in my Make up kit.

Nip & Fab Mango body butter - This smells gorgeous. I'm really picky about Body butters as I can't stand the greasy feeling from thick/deep moisturising body butters. This one is for Dry skin so it is very moisturising but it will be great for me to use in the winter for dry hands/elbows and knee's.

Yves Rocher So Elixir Purple - I love little perfume bottles, this is a floral woody smell, not something that I would normally go for but it's ok for an everyday scent.

Sun Sense Daily face - SPF50 - This will be good to try out in the summer.

Bourjois New Healthy Mix

Bourjois-healthy-mix-foundation-review

bourjois-healthy-mix-blush-review-applied

I had mixed feelings when I heard that Bourjois were reformulating their Healthy mix foundation, it was already my favourite foundation for glowy, soft skin the way it was, but then on the other there were a couple of downsides to the original formula - it didn't last all day and it was very heavily scented which sometimes caused me breakouts. I was excited to see what Bourjois would change.

I bought bourjois healthy mix foundation in the shade 54 which is the shade I wear in the winter, as it's summer soon I would have rather bought shade 55 but they didn't seem to stock it in my local boots.
I hate to say it but I preferred the original formula. I'm so glad I ended up with shade 54 as although its light in the tube, It seems to oxidise on me and become darker on my skin. It also doesn't sink as well into my skin or feel as moisturising. I applied it first with my real techniques stippling brush and then the next day with my real techniques expert face brush which seemed to work better. Don't get me wrong, its still a lovely foundation but personally, I preferred the original.

I also bought the bourjois healthy mix blush after seeing it on Sandra's Blog as its a really good dupe for a lovely Chanel blush, I don't own a coral orange blush and I think this will look so pretty in the summer.

I've now bought so many new hyped highstreet foundations (Revlon nearly naked, the New Bourjois healthy mix, Rimmel True match foundation) which are all pretty good, but to be honest I'm wishing I saved my money and tried Nars Sheer Glow or YSL Touch Eclat Foundation which I've got a feeling that I will love!

Lesson learned I think, these all will be great for the summer and I will use them up but I think the next foundation I buy, will be from Nars or YSL.

Rimmel Apocalips

Rimmel-Big-Bang-swatch
Rimmel Apocalips in Celestial, Nova and Big Bang.

I picked up three Rimmel apocalips shades after seeing them pretty much all over Twitter, Instagram and Beauty blogs. Rimmel Apocalips are a liquid lipstick, they are creamy, non sticky and amazingly pigmented.

The three colours I picked up were Celestial which is a really pretty every day colour, Nova which is a pretty Pink and Big Bang which is a stunning bold red which I know I will rarely ever brave, but It's such a lovely colour!

I had to prep my lips well first before using the Rimmel apocalips lip lacquers as they really showed up any imperfections and dryness, first I used a lip scrub and then lip balm to make my lips smooth and soft for application. I tried a lip brush and the doe applicator for applying which both worked really well.

I really like these, they are £5.99 each but were on a 3 for 2 deal when I bought them from boots. I'm really loving Rimmel at the moment and I can't wait to see what they bring out next!

maybelline color tattoo

I've built up quite a collection of these long lasting gel/cream eyeshadows, Maybelline color tattoo eyeshadows are great to use as a wash of colour all over the eyes or as liner. Here are the shades I own:

Maybelline Color Tattoo Eternal Silver: Almost platinum, this metallic silver works so well smudged under the lower lash line or as a base to give definition to a smoky eye.

Maybelline Color Tattoo Pink Gold: A beautiful rose shade.

Maybelline Color Tattoo Turquoise Forever - This is a beautiful metallic kingfisher blue. I love wearing this rubbed onto my lower lashes to give them a buildable hint of colour.

Maybelline Color Tattoo Eternal Gold: This is a great every day colour and such a pretty light gold.

Maybelline On and On Bronze: Probably the most popular shade out of the range in the beauty world, this cool metallic bronze is great as an eyeshadow base or blended all over the lids for a pretty wash of colour.

Instagram #9 and Spring Goals

Daffodils - Mini Eggs - Essie Love
Smoothies - Roses - Pastel Socks
Bright Nails - Skincare - Frost

Spring is a time for new beginnings, fresh starts and growth.
After procrastinating for far too long, I really need to start taking bigger steps towards my dreams and goals!

My aims for Spring:

 Buy fresh flowers, often.
Take steps towards my dream career.
 30 Day Shred!
 Spring Clean my Wardrobe.
Cleaner foods - organic, salads, smoothies.
Try something new/ Learn something new.

These are my Spring goals, I don't have too many as I find it easier to stick to if I keep it short and simple. I'd love to learn a new language, eat cleaner, tone up and sort out my career. Hopefully by summer I will have achieved a few of my goals!
Do you have any Spring aims or goals? I'd love to hear them!

Sunshine, Daisies...

Flower headband - Primark

With S/S just around the corner now, I thought I would do a Make up look based on a few of the SS2013 trends. I've mixed some of the main trends (Matte skin, Matte pink lips, Bright or Metallic eyes and fluttery lashes) and adapted them to make them more wearable. Pink Matte lips and Matte skin play a big part in the S/S 2013 Make up trends.

I used Rimmel Match perfection foundation as a base and Rimmel stay Matte Powder all over my T-zone to give me the Matte effect. I love dewy skin so left my cheeks slightly glowy using Topshop highligter in sunbeam.
I used Maybelline colour tattoo Eternal gold on my eyes, it's so quick and simple to use and gives a really lovely effect that lasts all day. Great for hot summer days, I wore this a lot last summer and it didn't budge in the heat!
I used Topshop Cream Blusher in Flush to give a peachy pink flush of colour to my cheeks and Ardnell Demi Wispi's lashes to give me a fluttery lash effect.
I didn't want my lips to be too matte so I used Revlon lip butters in lollipop and sweet tart mixed together to give me a bight pink lip colour. I also dabbed a small amount of the sunbeam highlighter in the middle of my lips.

To wear this look for the day, I would loose the false lashes and just apply a small amount of sweet tart on my lips, its best to blend in with your finger to give a more natural lip. I really like this look and will definitely be wearing it this spring!

Valentines Glossybox

This months Glossybox was themed for Valentines day, the themed boxes are always my favourite and this one didn't disappoint!
The box is lovely, it's so pretty that I'll definitely be using this as storage for something!

My favourite product this month is the Docteur Renaud Raspberry soft cream, the ingredients are pretty good, it's parabin free and you can buy it easily at M&S. It's quite natural and leaves my skin feeling so soft.

Modelco Eyeshadow Palette - I love the colours of these Modelco eyeshadows, however it has quite big glitter particles that fall out and I don't think the colours are very well pigmented.

Anatomical Shower Gel - My boyfriend has already claimed this as he likes the smell and the packaging! I have far too many shower gels and i'm not too keen on the ingredients so thats fine with me!

Helen-e Cosmetics - This lipstick is really creamy but I'm not keen on the colour. I got the colour Sienna, which is a deep plumb/brown which just really doesn't suit me. It's a good colour to have so i'll keep it in my make up kit and I'm sure I'll get some use out of it.

Micabella cosmetics Blush in Siera Suede- This is my second favourite product, such a pretty colour!
