A Standout Bunch Of Pinks

Despite the frosts and frozen fog, there's been early hints and whispers of spring of late. On a wintry early morning trip to pick up some fresh bread, (to dunk in steaming bowlfuls of butternut squash soup!) I even spotted a tree starting to blossom! I've been slowly moving away from dark wintry hues and I'm totally having a moment with pink right now - to freshen up my make up, brighten up my home and even found myself buying cosy knits in blush hues. Below I've rounded up a few particularly lovely pinks...

Starting with a heavenly fragrance, I'm completely smitten with Giorgio Armani Si. I don't have a huge perfume collection and I'm quite picky about my scents but Si ticks all of the right boxes for me. It's a gorgeous mix of blackcurrant, rose, jasmine, mandarin and pachouli, there's woody, sweet and warm floral notes with a hint of musk - divine! One to wear all year round, this is a new staple in my fragrance collection.

The Nyx Soft Matte Cream in Milan is a dreamy mauve pink pick, it's pigmented, light and comfortable on the lips and once set, is completely budge proof - plus it smells like vanilla buttercream! One for the transition into spring, it's such a gorgeous hue!

My go-to for lacklustre skin days, the Nars Satin Lip Pencil in Yu instantly brightens up your look, it leaves your make up looking fresh and put-together. Paired with a highlighted, dewy complexion this universally flattering, vibrant pink looks unreal, so chic! The formula, as with all Nars Lip Pencils is a dream - creamy, saturated and long lasting!

On my nails, I've completely fallen for Essie Eternal Optimist, it's practically all I've been wearing this month! A creamy, tea rose this delicate pink pick is so flattering on the nails. It's thick, creamy formula could be opaque in just one coat, although I prefer two, it lasts pretty well on me - I can normally get around 5 days wear from it!

The EOS Lip Balm in Strawberry Sorbet is another heavenly pick, it's 95% organic, 100% natural and packed with nourishing vitamin e, shea butter and jojoba oil. It feels balmy and silky on the lips and stays on for hours, I always pop one in my bag for on the go, it keeps my lips plump and smooth and it smells delicious!

Lastly, I'm in love with the blush pink Zoeva Rose Golden brushes. The 228/Luxe Crease is such a versatile pick, I normally use it for blending out eyeshadow but lately I've been using it to apply a dusting of the Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder under my eyes, together they make such a dreamy duo!

Winter Beauty - A Round Up

Winter's frost bitten days, potential for snow flurries and icy cold nights means that it's the ideal time to pull out an array of beauty products to keep your skin hydrated. Here's a little round up of my beauty picks this winter and skincare faves to keep my skin in check for the cold months ahead!

To start, I've swapped out my usual day cream (the Origins Ginzing Energy Boosting Moisturiser) with something a little richer. The cult Embroylisse Lait-Creme Concentrate covers me in winter, it's a lightweight yet nourishing cream that leaves my skin plump, smooth and hydrated!
At night, I tend reach for an oil for an added hydration boost. The Pai BioRegenerate Oil is a glorious, nourishing treat - the heavenly rosehip oil works to promote clear skin, deeply condition and fade acne scarring. Rich in omegas, antioxidants and hydrating nutrients it leaves the skin glowing!

For my body, I'm obsessed with Lush Rough With The Smooth a gorgeous, scrubby little block that's packed with exfoliating sugar, vanilla and moisturising murumuru butter - it's the ideal fix for parched winter skin! I use this a couple of times a week to gently buff and polish, It leaves my skin silky soft, smooth and pampered.

On my nails, I've fallen completely in love with an Essie polish (no surprises there!). Eternal Optimist is described as a spiced tea rose with a dash of cream (how divine!), this cheery yet delicate, rosy pink pick is just the ticket for brightening up a gloomy January!

For make up, late starts and even later nights in December have totally thrown out my sleep schedule. This combined with the dark, wintry mornings has left me with lacklustre skin and tired eyes so I've pulled out a few fail safe picks to brighten up my tired peepers! The NYX Jumbo eye pencil in Milk is an instant fix, applied lightly on the waterline, this creamy liner opens up the eyes and stays put for hours. The Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder is another reliant pick, a weightless under eye setting powder with very subtle shimmer it leaves your make up fresh, bright and flawless.
I've also been wearing the Nars Soft Touch Shadow Pencil in Goddess washed over the eyes, a gorgeous shimmering peach pink with light gold champagne it's fairly subtle but so so pretty!

Lastly on my lips, I've discovered a dreamy, softening combo to combat dry lips - the Lush Popcorn lip scrub, a nourishing lip scrub with sea salt, jojoba oil and coconut oil pairs so will with the Korres Lip Butter in Quince, a buttery soft shea butter balm with hint of colour!

Festive Reds & Glittering Golds

red and gold make upchristmas makeup
'Tis the season! With only a week to go, it's all about the festive reds and glittering golds right now. Sparkly metallic nails and a chic red lip are just the thing for these Christmassy days, pair with a cosy knit and a mug of spiced hot chocolate for a festive treat!

Reds
MAC Mineralize Blush in Gleeful: My December staple, I always pull this out at this time of the year! This gorgeous, wintry blusher blends seamlessly over the skin and the luminous pigments enhance the cheekbones - it's such a flattering shade. Also, as it's so saturated, you only need the smallest amount of this soft wine blusher for rosy, flushed cheeks!

L'oreal Lipstick in Blake: My go-to when my lips are feeling a little dry, the addition of jojoba oil in this classic red lipstick helps to keep lips soft and lightly hydrated. Great for the festive period, this sophisticated matte red gives an effortless, polished look that lasts thanks to it's matte formula. It works so well paired with shimmery highlighter, winged liner and tonnes of mascara!

Essie Aperitif: A classic cherry red and suits all shade, this can be opaque in just one coat (although I prefer two) for a fuss free, polished mani. It's a gorgeous rouge for the festive season and my go-to all year round red!

Essie Leading Lady: One of the most festive nail polishes, this is a sparkly, deep red pick with flecks of raspberry glitter running through it. It's so pretty on, a little more understated than your standard bold red sparkly christmas mani, but looks just as festive on!

Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Cruella: Lastly in my festive red line up, this heavenly velvet matte lip pick is a dream for the Christmas period. I'm all about this matte scarlet red hue, it's pigmented, matte and so chic - the perfect Christmas day shade!

Golds
Nars Alhambra: This brightening duo consists of two pigmented, shimmery shades - a golden champagne and a metallic rose gold. The formula of this dreamy duo is unreal, buttery soft, light reflecting and lasting, it's divine!

Urban Decay Half Baked: Another buttery pick, this warm gold hue is ideal for everyday wear. This looks gorgeous blended all over the lids, along the lower lash line and paired with tonnes of mascara.

Essie Glow Your Own Way: Reminiscent of a sparkling snow globe, the bronze gold and snow white flecks of this festive pick are ideal for Christmas and the party season. This works beautifully worn on it's own, layered over another shade or as an accent nail!

Essie Getting Groovy: Perfect for December, this metallic palladium gold is so flattering on. Under a light it shimmers and sparkles a dazzling gold. It's ideal for gilded tips too!

Glittery Party Picks

party makeup
Unfortunately my Christmas party plans have fallen through this year (gutted I won't be able to wear this beauty out!) but I'm still planning on indulging in a little party prep - I'll find somewhere to wear my dress, even if it's ringing in the new year at home with a glass of sparkling elderflower! I've pulled together a few of my fave finds and sparkly picks for the festive season to help me get party ready.

The Phyto Botanical Straightening Balm* is great to tame tresses, I simply run a small amount through damp hair before styling to control frizz and it leaves me with manageable hair that's ready to style! Packed with heavenly, botanical ingredients it's lightweight, hydrating, strengthening and protects against heat damage - it's divine!

After pampering and preening the skin and before applying a base, I like to smooth on an illuminator like the Nyx Born To Glow Liquid Illuminator in Sunbeam (a great Nars dupe!) for a dewy glow. The shimmering pearl hue with a hint of pink brightens and perks up the skin for all over radiance and it helps to create a flawless complexion!

For cheeks, I've pulled out a complimentary, dreamy duo, my new go-to combo for a chic party look! The Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush in Mood Exposure is a lovely pick, this silky soft blusher blends seamlessly and leaves a gorgeous soft focus to the skin. The swirls of radiance powder enhances the complexion and the dusky mauve pink hue sculpts the cheeks - it's perfect to wear with a red lip! The Mac Extra Dimension Skinfinish in Double Gleam works so well paired with this, it's a gorgeous silvery champagne beige, a shimmery highlighter with subtle sparkles - heavenly!

For eyes, the By Terry Ombre Blackstar in Misty Rock is a fail safe option. A lavender taupe with fine silver glitter running through it's creamy, pigmented, blends like a dream and once set, it's completely budge-proof! Paired with the Ardell Demi Wispies lashes and liquid eyeliner this looks unreal, and so festive!

A glittery mani is a Christmas party must-have! I'm planning on opting for a festive sparkly gold, try Essie Getting Groovy, an opulent palladium gold with Essie Glow Your Own Way, a glittery bronze gold with snow white flecks for the ultimate gilded Christmassy nails!

Lastly, a red lip is a Christmas party staple. You probably know by now how much I adore the Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Cruella, a long lasting, matte scarlet red, it's so flattering on - I always get compliments when wearing this!

Festive Beauty Picks

festive makeup
It's finally December (or Decembrr!)! The tree is up, slumped heavy under the weight of bells, baubles and garlands, there's fairylights draped over rooftops and frost bitten mornings call for slippered feet and winter spiced hot chocolates - it's officially Christmas! To further mark the occasion, I've pulled out my favourite sparkly, glittery beauty picks, plus a couple of fail-safe red lipsticks too!

The Nars Outer Limits eyeshadow (dupe here!) is perfect for this time of the year, it's a dreamy, sparkly iridescent rose gold that's ideal to dab on top of any eyeshadow. The flecks of pink and gold glitter add a shimmery, festive touch and it transforms eyeshadows with minimal effort!
Another festive pick is the heavenly Illamasqua Jubilance, a buttery soft eyeshadow with metallic rose gold and silvery sparkles. Paired with red lips and winged liner it looks unreal!

For lips, I've pulled out the Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Cruella, a divine, flattering, deep scarlet red. This creamy yet budge proof, chic shade is not only a must-have for the party season but it also looks so festive paired with a cosy scarf and bobble hat too!
The Sleek Matte Me in Rioja Red is a long lasting lip saviour - it's incredible staying power means that I can indulge in as many veggie roast dinner's and chocolate oranges as possible without worrying about smudges or too many top ups throughout the day! The applicator is a little tricky and as it's a liquid lipstick it can be difficult to apply, but once set it lasts for hours and hours before fading to a stain.

Festive nails are a must-have for December! I've been reaching for Essie Glow Your Own Way, a gorgeous sparkly pick with flecks of bronze and snow white glitter and Essie Leading Lady, a deep glittery red!

For highlighter, I've opted for the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in Opal, a gorgeous golden peach highlighter for a candle lit glow. The texture is dreamy, silky soft and so saturated, you only need a light dusting for dewy, luminous skin. The peachy tones are so flattering, it's the perfect complexion pick me up!

Lastly for blusher, I've pulled out a couple of heavenly picks. The dusky mauve/pink Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush in Mood Exposure sculpts the cheeks effortlessly and the swirls of ambient lighting powder perks up lacklustre skin (ideal for winter). I'm also smitten with the Nars Dolce Vita Blush, this rosy berry red blusher packs a punch, you only need a small amount for flushed, rosy cheeks!

Champagne & Berries

champagne make up
November has finally swept in with silvered frosty mornings and bitter cold nights. Whisper's of Christmas and the bustle of festive shopping has started as pumpkins are tidied away and the leaves drift from the tree's. I've pulled out one of my favourite colour combinations for the chilly days - champagne and berry, my go-to November colour palette!

First up is the Charlotte Tilbury Eyes To Mesmerise in Jean, a divine pick. This shimmery champagne cream eyeshadow brightens up tired eyes with light reflecting pigments and gives a heavenly soft sheen to the lids. Also, it's enriched with vitamin e to keep the eye area hydrated - ideal for the colder days!

For a dreamy glow, the Topshop Glow Highlighter in Polish is the one. Creamy, iridescent and almost ethereal, the slight pink peach tones in this pearlescent champagne highlighter perks up tired skin - it's SO flattering! I like to dab this on my cheekbones, cupids bow and down the centre of my nose for dewy skin, it blends seamlessly and gives a gorgeous runway glow!

The last of my champagne picks is MAC Soft and Gentle, a gorgeous golden champagne highlighter with subtle sparkles. A light dusting of this mineralised highlighter awakens and brightens the skin with luminous, shimmery pigments. It doubles up as a eyeshadow too!

Moving onto berry tones, Mac Plumful is a beautiful pick for every day wear. As a lustre finish it's light and comfortable on the lips and the mauve pink tones are soft and subtle - it's so pretty on.
For a bold, saturated pick, the NYX Soft Matte Lip cream in Copenhagen is divine. A glorious deep matte burgundy it packs a punch and lasts for hours and hours. Plus, it smells like vanilla buttercream - heavenly!

Lastly, Essie Sole Mate, a glossy berry is ideal for a quick, fuss free mani. A staple for autumn, it looks chic worn alone or can be paired with a glitter accent nail for a festive touch!

A Few More Beauty Tips...

I thought that I would share 12 more beauty tips (see my first instalment here!) - there's nothing better than learning a new trick or technique to add to your beauty routine! Here's a few old staple tips, new discoveries and quick fixes that I've picked up!

1. Use a light to see how much product is left in opaque bottles, this works like a treat on the Oskia Renaissance Cleanser!

2. Take note of your cheek colour when you're flushed to find your perfect blush shade.

3. Place a towel under the handles of your make up brushes whilst they're drying. I angle mine quite high so that if any water has worked its way into the ferrule, it should simply run back out again to stop damage to the glue and prolong the life of your brushes!

4. Blow dry your hair upside down. Flip your hair over and dry for maximum volume, keep the hairdryer constantly moving to reduce/minimise heat damage.

5. Look out for the little picture of the pot on the back of your make up/skincare packaging, it should have the number of months that it lasts once opened (e.g 12M).

6. Opt for a natural lip balm - considering the fact that we probably ingest quite a lot of lip balm, especially over the colder months, it's best to keep things natural! Love EOS lip balms.

7. Whilst applying a second coat of polish, run the brush along the very tip of the nail to seal in the colour for a longer lasting mani.

8. Use a Jade Roller or try Facial Yoga for improved circulation and elasticity.

9. Place make up you want to use up in acrylic storage so that it's easy to see and reach for.

10. Keep Q-tips and micellar water close to hand to clean up any mistakes, great for liner and mascara smudges!

11. Lean on your elbow whilst applying liquid liner for a steadier hand.

12. Keep your iPhone clean. Touching your phone and then your face/talking on the phone can increase the chances of breakouts, it's best to keep it as clean as possible!

I hope you liked these tips!

My Go-To Autumn Eyeshadows

rose gold eyeshadows
As the harsh, colder weather has started to settle in I've been reaching for shimmery, autumnal shades to wear. Burnished bronzes, warm coppers, champagne golds and rusts have become part of my daily make up picks - I just love pairing a soft smoky eye, a wash of dreamy rose gold or shimmery champagnes with a berry lip!

I always pull out my Urban Decay Naked 3 palette around this time of the year, with dreamy soft pinks, mauves and shimmery rose golds it's ideal, perfect to carry you through to the December party season too! The buttery smooth texture of the eyeshadows in this heavenly eyeshadow palette makes them effortless to work with, they blend like a dream and last well on the eyes.

The cult Stila eyeshadow in Kitten is a saviour for brightening tired eyes. I use this as a highlight for the inner corner, brow bone and blended on the centre of the lids, or even just brushed over the entire lid for a shimmery eye. It's such a pretty champagne nude shade that's so versatile, I love wearing it dusted over cheekbones as a highlighter too!

One of my favourite eyeshadows Nars Outer Limits (affordable dupe here!) is a dreamy, sparkly iridescent rose gold. The peach toned base with flecks of pink and gold glitter running through it means that you can simply wash this mesmerising pick over the lids or pat on lightly to give an effortless shimmery eye with a rose gold sheen.

I'm so smitten with the new Illamasqua Eyeshadow in Jubilance, although this looks like a burnished bronze in the pot, it translates to a divine metallic rose gold with silvery sparkles. Despite the fine glitter particles, it has a buttery texture, applies with little fallout and has a beautiful colour pay off - it's so flattering on!

Lastly, MAC Honey Lust is a gorgeous peachy bronze hue with a hint of sparkle. This dreamy pick looks pretty paired with fluttery lashes and a vampy lipstick!

A Vampy Lip Edit

vampy lipstick
As soon as October hits, I pull out all of my vampy lip picks ready for the month ahead. October for me means crisp autumn days, huge blanket scarves, pumpkins, spooky things and of course, berry lips! For the lead up to halloween I gravitate towards darker hues, ones to pair with dewy skin, champagne eyes and winged liner. Here are my top picks for a vampy pout!

For a bold pick, Topshop Beguiled is a gorgeous deep berry red with slight shimmery undertones that's ideal to carry you through to winter - it's great for December! The shade is unreal, a flattering burgundy red with ruby tones running through it, one of my all time favourites! The velvety satin/matte formula makes application effortless, it's comfortable to wear and long lasting too!

Next up an autumn staple, the cult MAC Rebel is a rich, bold berry hue that's perfect for blustery autumn days! As a matte formula, once set it's pretty much budge-proof and when it does start to fade, it leaves a pretty stain to the lips.

The Nyx Soft Matte Lip Cream in Copenhagen is a chic, deep burgundy hue - such an instagrammable shade! This vanilla buttercream scented lip cream applies like a dream before setting into place as a long lasting matte lip. Paired with a pearl highlighter, matte eyeshadows and a velvet choker, its perfect for the lead up to Halloween!

Lastly, the bdellium tools matte lipsticks have become staples in my collection. Last Call* is a gorgeous vampy wine with red-brown tones that's super flattering on and Wait a Minute* is a divine blue toned plum berry. With with macadamia oil and shea butter they keep lips nourished and as a matte formula, they boast impressive wear time. They're paraben free, vegan and cruelty free, plus the packaging is magnetic and so the lid clicks shut - so satisfying!

Autumn Beauty Picks

The crisp, autumn days have finally arrived!! My skin is already in serious need of a hydration boost and so I've swapped out my lighter night cream for the Kiehls Ultra Facial Balm - a luxurious balmy version of the cult Kiehls Ultra Facial Cream, but without the addition of parabens. This rich, creamy balm is ideal for the gloomy autumn days, it leaves skin plump, smooth and super hydrated. To use, I simply warm up a very small amount between my fingers, tap on my forehead, cheeks and chin and then smooth upwards and outwards over my face and neck.
Another saviour for parched skin is Lush's Dream Cream, with oat milk, rose water and chamomile blue oil, this soothing, hydrating cream treats and clears up dry, sore and unhappy skin!

Lush's The Comforter shower gel is a shower staple, the perfect treat on cold autumn days. The bright yet comforting cassis, bergamot and vanilla fragrance is warming and uplifting - the ideal fix to perk you up if your feeling a little under the weather!

My skin always looks a little lacklustre during autumn and so I'm relying on a couple of make up faves to perk up my tired complexion. The Nyx Born To Glow Liquid Illuminator in Sunbeam is divine, a creamy, shimmery pearl highlighter with a touch of pink to brighten and give a dewy glow. The Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blusher in Mood Exposure is also ideal for autumn, this finely milled, silky soft blusher sculpts the cheeks flawlessly. The dusky mauve pink hue works well paired with a vampy lip and the swirls of ambient lighting powder brings light and radiance to the skin.

For eyes, I've pulled out Illamasqua Jubilance a new, dreamy, rose gold shimmery pick and By Terry Misty Rock, a blendable lavender taupe with silver glitter running through it. Both look gorgeous blended on the lids and under the lash line with a slick of mascara and winged liner!

For lips, I've pulled out a selection of autumnal hues, Nars Walkyrie - a creamy, wearable, muted matte terracotta pick, Mac Rebel, a bold, rich berry and the Nyx Soft Matte Lip Cream in Copenhagen, a chic long lasting and gorgeous deep burgundy red.

Lastly, on my nails I'm obsessed with these two beautiful hues from the Leighton Denny AW16 Roaring 20's collection. I've opted for Moonshine*, a dreamy soft nude with mauve tones and a subtle silver shimmer and Rebellious Heart*, a divine rich plum shade!

Muted Lips And Tips

muted lipstick
We're still pretty much stuck in limbo weather-wise here in the UK, with heatwaves one day and downpours the next, the unsettled transition into autumn is in full swing. For this transitional period, I've been pulling out muted tones that are ideal for these indecisive days. Pretty, understated and super flattering, a muted mani or lip combo is just the ticket!

Lips
Mac Mehr: My September staple, this flattering, mauve pink pick is perfect for gloomy, rainy days. It's creamy, pigmented and matte with a slight berry tone to it making it great for autumn/winter too. I love it paired with shimmery lids, winged liner and a grey knit, it's my go-to lipstick for this time of the year!

Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Walkyrie: I'm all about this dreamy terracotta 90's hue - it's saturated, matte, and so chic, the perfect almost autumn shade! A great alternative to a bold red lip, the muted red and brown tones help to give it a wearable, sophisticated twist. As with all Nars Lip Pencils, it's a dream to apply and boasts impressive wear time!

Mac Whirl: If like me, you can't wait until October to start channelling Halloween vibes, this is just the thing. Whirl is a gorgeous muted rosy brown with a divine, long lasting formula - just add a velvet choker necklace and this adorable cat bag and you're good to go!

NYX Liquid Suede Cream Lipstick in Soft Spoken: Another pretty rosy brown, Soft spoken is a heavenly pick for Kylie-esque lips. It's a dream to wear - budge proof, and comfortable on the lips. A great everyday hue!

Nails
Essie Ladylike: Opaque in just one coat, this is incredible for a fuss-free, minimal, polished mani. My fail-safe pick for weddings, lunch dates or meetings, this muted mauve is the perfect neutral shade!

Essie Merino Cool*: Described by Essie as an 'autumn mulberry purple', it's a gorgeous hue for this time of the year. The muted purple and grey tones are so flattering on the nails!

Essie Angora Cardi: Probably my favourite transitional nail polish, this beautiful muted berry is ideal to wear for the anticipation of autumn - and for when you don't quite want to take the leap towards vampy berry nails just yet! It's a soft, dusty mauve - so delicate and pretty on.

Essie Maximillian Strasse Her: One of the most difficult shades to describe, this pretty cement-grey-muted-blue/green nail polish looks different to me each time I look at it! It has a creamy, lasting formula and compliments the change of seasons perfectly.

An Autumn Beauty Haul

There's something about the anticipation of a new season that just makes me want to go on a shopping spree! Although it's not quite autumn yet, I've already invested in a few new beauty buys for my favourite season. I've splurged on skincare saviours, autumn staples and treated myself to a thing or two from Illamasqua's dreamy autumn collection, here's what I picked up:

I just had to treat myself to something from Illamasqua's Autumn Extinct collection - a gorgeous selection of jewel tones, metallic's and sparkles. I swayed between Cascade, an almost ghostly, iridescent white with a hint of frosty blue (ideal for Halloween!) and Jubilance, a dreamy rose gold shimmer that I'll be wearing a lot this autumn. Due to an order mix up I actually ended up with both (top marks to Illamasqua's awesome customer service!), layered together they look unreal - ethereal, so so pretty!

Next, I took to Space NK to stock up on my favourite Oskia Renaissance cleanser (see my little tip to check how much you have left here!). This autumn staple contains pumpkin enzymes and vitamins to combat dull, uneven skin. It works to cleanse, soften and restore and leaves my complexion radiant and smooth. Before checking out, I decided to splurge on a new Nars Lip Pencil (gotta rack up those Ndulge points!) I opted for the Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Walkyrie, a dreamy red brown 90's pick, the perfect almost autumn shade. You probably know by now how much I adore the formula of these lovely lip pencils, they're creamy, saturated and long lasting - heavenly!

Lastly, I've been swooning over Carrie's nails for weeks now, I just love the dipped gold look! I picked up the Barry M Molten Metallic Nail Paint in Bronze Bae to create a similar look. On the nails it actually translates to more of a burnished gold and looks like the perfect shade for gilded tips this autumn. It looks SO pretty paired with pinks, burgundy or greys, I may have to pick up the Barry M Molten Metal in Gold Digger, a paler, cool toned gold too!

Blush & Gold

The light, hazy summer days are slowly coming to a close and finally cooler days, crisp autumn mornings, cinnamon spiced hot chocolates and squashy blankets are on the horizon! It's that strange time of year where the weather feels unsettled and leaves me reaching for sunglasses and a scarf (plus always an umbrella, typical British weather!). The anticipation and excitement of the cooler months is real, I'm torn between wanting to crack out deep, vampy hues and clutching onto corals and pinks as the summer fades. This year, I've settled somewhere in-between, falling in love with warm golds and cool blush pinks that pair well with both coral and burgundy hues.

Before switching things up for autumn I thought that I would share some snaps of my dressing table and a few things that I've been loving this month!
A few beauty loves include the heavenly Sleek Solstice Palette, a shimmery quad for a dewy, radiant glow, the Lush Popcorn Lip Scrub - a saviour for dry lips and Mac Mehr, a creamy mauve pink, the perfect transitional lip shade. The H&M Pure Velvet cream blush in Hot Pink is another great pick, ideal for for glowy, flushed cheeks. For nails, I've been drawn to glossy, polished nails with a touch of gold glitter. Although it may seem a little early to crack out the glitter polishes, Essie Sugar Daddy with a ombre glitter accent nail creates a gorgeous mani without looking too festive!

For style, I picked up a couple of blush pieces from Primark last weekend - the softest, cosy jumper and a cute bralette. I also made a few Asos purchases this month, I picked up this beautiful embroidered dress for autumn and this cute necklace trio too! The photo's really don't give justice to just how pretty this necklace set it, the longest one reminds me slightly of the Missoma x Lucy Williams gold fang necklace, such a great pick!

Lastly, I've loved having pops of greenery scattered around my home. These pieces from my Bloom and Wild bouquet have lasted so well, they brighten up my mornings whilst I put my make up on!

Transitional Beauty Picks

As the days slowly start to shorten and the biting chill in the morning air hints at autumn, I've packed away most of my corals and brights and pulled out a few picks to carry me through the transition into autumn.

Firstly, I've upped my skincare game, switching out light lotions for something a little richer. The Origins Night-a-Mins Oil Free Renewal Cream sits somewhere nicely in-between a summer pick and thick winter cream, it's lightweight in texture thanks to the gel formula yet surprisingly nourishing and leaves skin super soft. This heavenly moisturiser works to fade acne scarring and gives a boost of radiance to tired skin, an ideal pick for when you're adjusting to the darker mornings!

I often suffer from dry lips when the colder weather rolls in and this year I'm well prepared - I've started prepping and priming my lips early to combat the gloomy months ahead. The divine, buttery sweet scented Lush Popcorn Lip Scrub has me covered, with nourishing and hydrating jojoba and coconut oil and exfoliating sea salt to pamper my lips, I'll still be able to get a lot of wear from my fave matte lipsticks!
My lipstick of choice is the Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Walkyrie, a gorgeous red brown and everyday staple that looks ideal for autumn too. I've worn this practically every day since I picked it up last week, it's such a pretty shade.

For eyes, the By Terry Ombre Blackstar in Misty rock is a heavenly pick, it's pigmented, blends like a dream, applies effortlessly and once set, is completely budge-proof. The shade is exquisite, a shimmery lavender taupe with fine silver glitter running through it that's so flattering on.

On my cheeks, I've been reaching for the gorgeous Nars Orgasm. This saturated, warm pink buttery blusher perks up skin and gives a divine golden pink flush of colour to your cheeks. I then like to pat a little of the NYX Born To Glow Liquid Illuminator in Sunbeam onto the tops of my cheekbones, it's a beautiful shimmering liquid pearl highlighter with a touch of pink and a subtle sparkle. Ideal for the transition into autumn, it looks unreal paired with vampy lips!

Lastly, on my nails, I've opted for Essie's Ladylike, a creamy muted mauve for a chic, polished mani. It looks so pretty worn with a gold glitter, as an accent nail or as an ombre effect!

90's Lip Picks

I'm beyond happy that 90's style is back - gorgeous muted pink-brown lips, velvet choker necklaces and TV picks like Gilmore Girls popping up on Netflix! I even have my eye on a cute denim borg jacket for the transition to Autumn! One of my favourite trends is 90's lips, here's a few flattering picks!

Probably one of the most hyped lip products of the year, MAC Whirl is such a classic 90's shade! It's a pretty, muted rosy brown that works so well paired with winged liner and a velvet choker necklace. The texture is divine - soft, creamy and pigmented and as it's a lip pencil, pretty long lasting. There's a lipstick version too, which I'm tempted to splurge on!

The Tanya Burr Matha Moo Luxe Lip Gloss is a gorgeous pick, it looks unreal on the lips, it's SO flattering. This pretty pink brown liquid lipstick dries down to a budge-proof dreamy matte lip that feels comfortable to wear and lasts for hours. This has been my go to pick for everyday wear!

Next up is MAC Retro, a matte brown red. This is a great alternative to a bright red lip for an evening out, the brown tones give off a sophisticated vibe and it's so pretty on. I like to prep my lips first with a little balm as the matte formula can be quite drying but once applied, it stays put for hours.

Another everyday pick, MAC Brave Lipstick is a gorgeous mauve pink, mlbb hue. It's pigmented, fuss-free and the satin finish feels so comfortable on the lips.

Lastly, for something a little more vampy, I recommend the NYX Liquid Suede Cream Lipstick in Vintage. A creamy mauve brown, this looks ideal for the transition into autumn - I love wearing it with winged liner, Hourglass Mood Exposure and a simple grey knit! The formula is great, light on the lips, pigmented and long lasting, a heavenly pick all round.
